Our Story

Any parent knows that they would do anything for their child, even something as uncomfortable as fundraising to help their child. We can’t bring our precious babe home without your help. Please share our story…

While Doug and I had planned on adopting again in the future, I was surprised with a call from our agency. Our daughter Mya’s birthmother is expecting and wants us to adopt her baby boy due in only a few short months. Though we were excited at the news a look at our finances told us it was impossible. With adoption fees totaling over $40,000 (more than twice the fee for Mya's adoption) we knew there was no way my husband and I could possibly pay for this adoption. Over the past month we have done everything we can think of to come up with the money, including refinancing our home, looking at loans, slashing our budget, and setting up a garage sale. We are reaching out to anyone that can help us, no matter the size of the donation.

Please help us keep these beautiful children together. We deeply appreciate any and all donations, suggestions, and prayers.

Adoption Update

Earlier today we spoke with our birthmother's caseworker. She happens to be the sister of a friend! We got an answer. She said our birthmother is in a tough situation and so is in need of more financial support during this pregnancy. We worry and pray for her and her baby. We are so grateful for our birthmother and sure love her. Her caseworker estimates the fees to be about $40,000. That's double the adoption fee we paid with Mya's adoption and $10,000 more than our "max budget" (our "max budget" would be a bit tough to handle but we could deal with it for baby). When we got the news of the estimated fee we were devastated. We sat and thought, numb. Then Doug started looking into something, anything that'd allow us to still be able to adopt our birthmother's baby. There is nothing more we can do. If we are meant to adopt this baby then a miracle will need to occur. And soon.

See, once the agency emails us the official estimate we have only a few days to respond as to whether or not we can go ahead with the adoption before they will need to find a different family who can go ahead with the adoption. Our birthmother's caseworker estimates the official fee estimate to be ready by Wednesday.

Doug and I have discussed this in depth all evening. We have been praying. We have decided that if for no other reason we owe it to our precious Mya to do this one last thing just to see what, if anything, happens. If for no other reason than for the sake of Mya having an adopted sibling who is also a blood sibling, we want to share our story in the hopes that it gets shared over, and over, and over again, and someone(s) somewhere will read the story and feel inspired that they are our miracle.

Given the circumstances mention above, there is no time for the fundraisers we had planned. We will need to know if we can do this by the time the official estimate is sent to us. It is humbling to ask for help. It is uncomfortable to look for a monetary miracle with nothing to give in return but eternal thanks. But we have decided that we need to give it this one last try to see if someone out there is just waiting for us to ask.

One certain someone, or maybe five, or ten, or 10,000 people with a dollar each to spare. We don't know. Maybe nothing will come of this. We will take that as a "no" answer to our prayers. But we're gonna give it a go to see.

So please, share this. Make it go viral. Please help us get the word out. We will let you know what, if anything, happens. And thank you. Thank you for reading our story. Thank you for understanding. Thank you for sharing.
